Rose Petals at The Pantheon
June 4, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Join us as The Pantheon to celebrate the Pentecost.
The event starts at noon so we will escort you to the Pantheon at least 2 hours before the ceremony begins.
This is a special tradition said to date back to 609 AD. During the Pentecostal mass, rose petals are dropped through the oculus onto the faithful to symbolize the descent of the Holy Spirit.
At noon, the ‘Vigili del Fuoco‘ (firefighters) of Rome, climb almost 44 meters high to the top of the Pantheon’s dome. From there they drop thousands of red rose petals as the choir chants the sequence of ‘Veni Sancte Spiritus‘.
